I do believe in human goodness, intelligence, generosity, connectedness, enthusiasm, and beauty. There are lots of things, however, that I don’t believe in, like luck, the Loch Ness Monster, and numerology.
In numerology, for example, seven is powerful and mystical and represents intuition, good luck, spiritual growth, and completeness. If numerology is to be believed, this is a bonus day and time for me. In SEVEN days, I will turn SEVENty-SEVEN-years old. In my mind, that would suggest unimaginable luck, a new sense of wholeness, and insights into the core of the universe and the meaning of life — all associated with seven — are on the way.
But, like I said, I don’t believe that.

You can prove me wrong about numerology by contributing to one of my favorite organizations with a gift in some multiple of $7 (you know, like $14, $21, $28, $35, $70, $140, $210, etc.) By your calculation, it will increase the likelihood of my recognizing the power of seven as a source of my new sense of completeness and spiritual growth.
OR you can prove me right about my belief in human goodness, connections, enthusiasm, and generosity by contributing to one of my favorite organizations with a gift at an amount not readily divisible by 7 (you know, like $15, $25, $50, $75, $100, etc.) You don’t really need to do much calculation in this instance because you already know that the key here is giving, not a specific number.
Either way, please challenge or support this old man’s beliefs
